uncovering asia logo high res 768 x 260Uncovering Asia is bringing together top investigative reporters, data journalists, and media law and security experts from across Asia and around the world.

The program will feature nearly 30 sessions and special events. There will be panels on finding hidden facts online, covering the environment, digging into business, new journalism models and funding your investigation; seminars on security and tracking dirty money; data journalism workshops by the best in the business; and much more.

Uncovering Asia also will mark two important occasions: first, on Saturday evening, a special reception honoring the 25th anniversary of the pioneering Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, which is now a model for nonprofit investigative centers around the world. Then, on Sunday evening, join us for a candle-light assembly at nearby Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, historic site of the 1986 People Power Revolt, to commemorate the UN-designated International Day to End Impunity.

Sunday and Monday will be packed with hands-on training, practical tips and techniques, and great networking. Conference workshops include:

  • Advanced online search techniques by Internet sleuth Paul Myers of the BBC.
  • Tracking business across borders with Investigative Dashboard by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project.
  • Uncovering hidden assets with the Offshore Leaks Database of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.
  • Advanced Google Tools, including searches, mapping, and public data with the New York-based Google for Media Team.
